(USGovernment-News.Com, August 14, 2012 ) New York, NY -- More than one million General Electric dishwashers have been recalled due to a fire hazard. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled GE and Hotpoint dishwashers pose a risk of fire due to an electrical failure in the dishwasher’s heating element. GE has received 15 reports of these failures, including seven reports of fires, three of which resulted in property damage. The recall involves the following brand names: GE, GE Adora, GE Eterna, GE Profile and Hotpoint dishwashers. The recalled appliances were sold across the country between March 2006 and Aug. 2009 for $350 to $850 and sold in white, stainless steel, black, bisque and CleanSteel exterior colors and finishes. The CPSC is advising that consumers stop using the recalled dishwashers immediately and turn off the fuse or circuit breaker supplying the appliance with electricity.
