Trial Attorney David Spevack to Speak at 2012 NJSMPA Conference

(USGovernment-News.Com, August 05, 2012 ) Woodbridge, New Jersey – David Spevack, trial attorney at the Spevack Law Firm, will speak at the 97th Annual League of Municipalities Conference. The 2012 conference, put on by the New Jersey State Municipal Prosecutors' Association (NJSMPA), will be at the Atlantic City Convention Center, November 13-15. Spevack will speak Wednesday, November 14, at 3 pm and again on Thursday morning at a time to be determined. Spevack will discuss several topics, including:

• Plea bargaining in municipal courts
• Addressing New Jersey Court Rules
• The Rules of Professional Conduct pertinent to municipal prosecutors
• Case law
• The use of ordinances
• Practical applications
• Scenarios involving actual cases

Since its founding in 2004, the NJSMPA has strived to provide a collective voice for the municipal prosecutors of New Jersey. Before the founding of the NJSMPA, the state Supreme Court and Attorney General’s office would issue rulings without any input from municipal prosecutors. The Municipal Court Practice Committee has traditionally advised the state Supreme Court on municipal court matters, and until 2006, only judges and defense attorneys served as committee members. Since 2006, the NJSMPA holds a permanent seat on the committee. The NJSMPA is in regular contact with the Attorney General’s office and is well represented by the 21 assistant county prosecutors who serve as supervisors to municipal prosecutors. The NJSMPA has also testified before the state legislature on decisions affecting the municipal courts.

“It is an honor to be selected to speak at the NJSMPA Annual Convention,” said Spevack. “I am proud to be a part of an organization that offers continuing education to myself and my colleagues across the Garden State. I hope to share some of my knowledge and experiences with the attendees this year.”

David Spevack and the Spevack Law Firm specialize in litigation, employment law and workers compensation. He is licensed to practice law in New Jersey, New York and the United States District Court. Spevack currently serves as the Municipal Prosecutor in Perth Amboy, Woodbridge and Newark.
