(USGovernment-News.Com, June 29, 2012 ) Miami, Fl. – Miami maritime attorney John H. (Jack) Hickey has filed suit against Caribbean resort Hedonism and its parent corporation, Superclubs, on behalf of a client severely injured in a major motor vehicle accident while being transported by the resort’s airport shuttle. The shuttle was negligently operated and maintained, and there were no seatbelts to serve as even a minimum safety feature in the vehicle to protect passengers. This is the second case recently filed against the all-inclusive resort, as Hickey pursues actions on behalf of critically injured vacationers from all across the United States for injuries suffered on Caribbean properties.
Hickey is clear that he seeks to hold resorts accountable when guests are gravely injured while on vacation, as guests put a great of trust into these businesses for their own personal safety: “When a person pays a significant sum of money for a vacation outside the U.S., they deserve to feel safe and secure. Every business, particularly an all-inclusive resort, is responsible to maintain the highest duty of care towards their guests, and they are responsible for injuries or damages they have caused or failed to prevent due to negligence. Simply because resorts such as Sandals or Hedonism are foreign or may be incorporated in the Caiman Islands does not absolve them from responsibility. The vast majority of Caribbean resorts that market in the United States maintain Florida offices. If you were injured while at an all-inclusive resort, no matter where in the U.S. that you live, you can likely seek justice right here in Miami.”
Hickey previously worked as an attorney for cruise line insurance companies before founding the Hickey Law Firm, P.A., whose mission is to provide representation to honest, seriously injured victims. Hickey is a nationally renowned trial lawyer who has testified before Congress on the subject of cruise line liability. He is frequently called upon by major television outlets to comment on maritime law and cruise ship disasters, most recently appearing on Anderson Cooper 360 and Good Morning America.
