Due to the Recent Coverage of Concussions, Health and Fitness Workouts States that Anyone Can Suffer from These Head Injuries Too

(USGovernment-News.Com, June 12, 2012 ) Dallas, Texas – As several former athletes join a lawsuit against pro football, Health and Fitness Workouts discussed ways regular individuals can avoid and/or recover from concussions.

“Concussions are not just something sports players experience. They can happen to non-players too. Prevention is the best way to deal with concussions. And there are a myriad of ways to avoid or minimize these injuries,” said K. Chatman, owner of Health and Fitness Workouts.

Concussions are head injuries that alter brain function. They can occur due to force or a blow to the head and/or or violent shaking of the head and upper body.

“One can reduce his or her chances of receiving a concussion by wearing proper protective headgear during fitness training and especially if this person plays sports such as football and hockey or ride bicycles and motorcycles. If a person swims, this individual should avoid diving into shallow water,” said Mr. Chatman

However, one may still experience a concussion one day; no matter how cautious this person is or preventive measures he or she had in place. “An individual should seek medical assistance if he or she has suffered a concussion. This person should also rest both physically and mentally and avoid activities that require mental concentration and physical exertion,” stated K. Chatman.

People who have suffered a concussion should not return to any previous, rigorous physical and mental activity until they are cleared by the appropriate medical professional.

This is important to prevent another concussion and more potential damage to the brain. “People must understand that concussions require proper care and attention. Thus, patience and extreme caution are essential to fully recover from a concussion,” Mr. Chatman added.
