(USGovernment-News.Com, May 30, 2012 ) Dothan, AL -- The Crisis Center provides people living in Central Alabama with free and confidential support, crisis and suicide intervention, community information and referrals through telephone counseling. Their goal is to listen and assist individuals who are experiencing personal crisis or mental health issues and encourage and support those individuals. According to their website, people can call and talk to an extensively trained counselor about almost anything such as friendship, relationships, family issues, drug or alcohol abuse, anger, depression or suicide.
The Crisis Center also strives to promote community outreach and provide education on important issues within the community. There are several programs that have emerged through the Crisis Center. These programs include:

• Rape Response
• Kid’s Help Line
• Teen Link
• Senior Talk Line
• Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Facility
• The Mental Health Association
• Representative Payee Program
The Crisis Center primarily serves the following counties in Central Alabama: Blount County, Jefferson County, St. Clair County, Shelby County and Walker County. In addition to those five counties, The Rape Response program also serves Chilton County.
