MCGOWAN, HOOD & FELDER LLC FIGHTS BACK AGAINST ANTIARRHYTHMIC DRUG MULTAQ

Columbia, South Carolina -- Personal injury attorneys at the law firm of McGowan, Hood & Felder LLC are now representing individuals and families who have suffered injury or wrongful death due to the drug Multaq. Also known under the generic name dronedarone, Multaq has been prescribed to patients with atrial fibrillation. On December 19, 2011, the FDA completed a safety review of Multaq that showed a severe risk of death, stroke and heart attack. The FDA approved the drug in 2009, but clinical studies have since shown Multaq may double the risk of death for patients with permanent atrial fibrillation. The FDA continues to evaluate the risks for patients prescribed Multaq with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, persistent atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter.

Randy Hood, founding partner of McGowan, Hood & Felder LLC, expressed concern for the innocent victims of Multaq, including grieving families whose loved one suffered from a heart attack or stroke and the additional patients who continue to take the drug without knowledge of its risks. “The drug Multaq has been shown to have some severe side effects. It can cause a stroke, a heart attack or kill you. If you are taking this drug, talk to your doctor about your concerns. If your loved one has suffered injury or death, you need to contact someone immediately.” The FDA also warns against abruptly stopping any medication without first consulting with a health care provider.

The South Carolina injury attorneys at McGowan, Hood & Felder LLC seek not only to secure compensation for victims of alleged defective drugs, but also to expose responsible parties and corporations to the public so that all consumers are better able to make informed health care decisions. The skilled litigators at McGowan, Hood & Felder LLC use their combined years of legal experience, innovative courtroom and legal strategy, and the latest in computer technology and software to build cases to gain results their clients deserve.
