Washington, D.C.--The advocacy campaign featuring Mike Huckabee in television ads urging repeal of ObamaCare today announced that it will present 1.6 million petition names at a press conference at the Capitol tomorrow.
"Citizens from every corner of the nation are demanding immediate repeal of costly and destructive legislation that was enacted over the objections of a majority of Americans," said Ken Hoagland, chairman of RepealitNow,org. "This law has raised costs, virtually guarantees healthcare rationing and has stopped all job growth in small businesses," said Hoagland.
"We believe that the citizen's voice has been ignored and that our most cherished principle, 'consent of the governed' has been treated with utter contempt," said Hoagland. "We intend to see this law repealed in the Senate before it is ever argued at the Supreme Court. The petitions we deliver tomorrow to Congress represent just a fraction of those Americans who justifiably believe that this legislation will harm the economy, interpose government agents between doctors and patients and cause healthcare costs to escalate."
Hoagland will present boxes of petition names to Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), Rep. Joe Pitts (R-Pennsylvania), Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah),Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio),Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin)Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), Senator Mike Lee (R-Ut), Rep. Tom Price (R-Georgia),Senator David Vitter (R-Lousiana) and Rep. Mike Burgess (R-Texas). Hoagland said that petitions will then continue to be delivered to Senate Democrats along with phone calls, voice petitions, faxes, letters and e-mails in coming weeks.
"Tomorrow, as I present these petitions, our supporters will start calling Majority Leader Harry Reid's office so he might better understand the pressure that will soon be brought to bear on Senators across the nation who face tough reelection campaigns and who must defend a public policy the public has rejected," said Hoagland.
