(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 02, 2011 ) Las Vegas, NV -- In one of the biggest news stories of the year, on April 5th, Clark County Commissioners voted 5-2 to change the definition of a tavern license. According to NV Licensing Services Manager Serina Choi, one of the most overlooked aspects of the decision was the lifting of the 70-day moratorium on new tavern license applications.
The moratorium, which had been in effect since December 2010, was lifted on April 19 and Clark County has resumed accepting applications. Now, anyone interested in applying for a tavern license can move forward with the process.
So, process.
So, what's the first step? Applicants need to become familiar with the changes to the tavern ordinance. One of the biggest changes included in the new tavern ordinance is that all bars and taverns must have eight slot machines embedded in bar tops.
Supporters of the new ordinance, including the Nevada Resort Association, Members of the Tavern Owners Association and members of the Clark County Commissioners claimed that some tavern license owners allegedly were operating outside of the county regulations governing tavern licenses.
