DePuy Hip Recall May Qualify ASR Implant Recipients for Legal Recourse

(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 13, 2011 ) New York, NY – Due to the DePuy hip recall, which was issued in August 2010, implant recipients who experienced problems with the ASR XL Acetabular Hip System or the ASR Hip Resurfacing System may have legal recourse. Several DePuy hip implant lawsuits have been filed, and implant recipients who experienced problems with the recalled ASR hips may still be able to file a claim for compensation. Because the devices involved in the DePuy hip recall have also been linked to metallosis, an inflammatory reaction which may or may not produce symptoms at first, patients who who have not experienced DePuy hip problems may still be at risk for complications which could qualify them for legal recourse. If you have been implanted with a device implicated in the August 2010 DePuy hip recall, visit http://www.classaction.org/depuy-asr-hip-implant.html to learn more about your legal rights and to receive a no cost, no obligation evaluation of your claim.

The ASR XL Acetabular Hip System and the ASR Hip Resurfacing System, which were withdrawn from the market in a 2010 DePuy hip implant recall, have been associated with hip implant failure, loosening and other problems. Reportedly, these DePuy hip problems have caused pain, difficulty walking and swelling for implant recipients. While these symptoms are common following hip implant surgery, they may indicate more serious problems should they continue or come back. ASR recipients who developed symptoms of DePuy hip problems can speak with their physician, who may order x-rays to establish the functionality of the hip.

The hip implants implicated in the DePuy hip recall have also been associated with metal poisoning, which is an inflammatory reaction to increased levels of heavy metals in the body. Made of metal-on-metal components, the ASR devices can release tiny metal particles into the body as they wear. While this process is expected with metal-on-metal hip implants, some patients can develop a reaction to the particles, requiring revision surgery. Symptoms which may indicate metallosis include dizziness, rashes, and vision problems, though even patients with high metallic levels may not experience symptoms at first.

If you have been implanted with a device withdrawn from the market in the DePuy hip recall, itÂ’s important to explore your legal options, even if you have not developed signs of metallosis or other DePuy hip problems. Visit Class Action.org today and complete the free case evaluation form to find out if you can file a DePuy hip lawsuit to seek compensation for medical bills, pain and suffering and other damages.
