DePuy Hip Implants Recalled Due to Early Failure, Warns Class Action.org

(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 30, 2010 ) New York, NY – Class Action.org is currently reviewing claims from patients who were implanted with a recalled DePuy hip replacement system and needed revision surgery to replace or fix the defective hip implant. According to new data from the National Joint Registry of England and Wales, one in eight patients who received the recalled hip implants required a corrective surgery within five years of the initial operation. This new information prompted DePuy Orthopaedics, a unit of Johnson and Johnson, to recall two of its hip replacement products, the ASR Hip Resurfacing Resurfacing System and the ASR XL Acetabular System. If you or a loved one required corrective surgery after receiving a recalled hip implant, visit http://www.classaction.org/depuy-asr-hip-implant.html to find out if you are entitled to monetary damages.

DePuy hip replacement systems were expected to last approximately 15 years; however, since 2008, the FDA has received nearly 400 reports of early hip implant failure in DePuy patients. New research suggests that 12% of patients implanted with the ASR Hip Resurfacing System and 13% of patients with the ASR XL Acetabular System required revision surgery within five years of the original procedure. While the exact cause of the DePuy hip implant failure is unknown, studies suggest that metal-on-metal devices can wear quickly, releasing metallic ions into the body. This release can cause painful reactions which may lead to bone loss, tissue damage and groin pain. Symptoms of early hip implant failure can include difficulty walking, unexplained hip pain, pain upon standing and thigh pain.

If you or a loved one required revision surgery to fix or replace a DePuy hip implant that failed prematurely, you may be able to participate in a hip implant recall lawsuit. To receive a free evaluation of your claim, visit http://www.classaction.org/depuy-asr-hip-implant.html today. The hip implant recall lawyers working with Class Action.org are offering this initial case review at no cost and remain dedicated to consumers who were injured due to defective medical devices.
