(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 11, 2010 ) Detroit, MI - Julie L. Cavanaugh is a recent graduate of Cooley Law School and, prior to passing the Bar, worked with the Trusts and Estates Practice Group as a research clerk. Her primary areas of practice are estate and business planning, estate and trust administration, and contested probate litigation. She is also a state certified civil and probate mediator. Julie's responsibilities for the Trusts and Estates Practice Group will also include conducting a series of seminars to members of the financial services community and to accountants regarding the new Michigan Michigan Trust Code (MTC). The MTC, which becomes effective April 1, 2010, contains a number of new rules, including the fiduciary duties of trust protectors, new notice provisions for beneficiaries of irrevocable trusts, and the definition of "capacity" for signing a Will. While some of the MTC rules are mandatory, most of them are default provisions. You may contact Julie directly by phone at (248) 457-7228, or by e-mail at jlc@disinherit-irs.com.
