Since marijuana was legalized in Washington the number of impaired driving deaths has dramatically increased. Half of all drivers killed in an accident involving alcohol also tested positive for a variation of drugs including marijuana, which is known to slow response time. MADD does not hold an official stance on drug or alcohol use, but is strictly against the operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or distracted.
