Pennsylvania Governor Signs Laws to Combat Opioid Abuse, Drug Rehab Newark Comments

(USGovernment-News.Com, November 06, 2016 ) Newark, NJ -- News10ABC reports that Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf signed five new laws in order to combat the prescription opioid abuse epidemic impacting the state. These laws include measures that limit opioid prescriptions from emergency rooms to a seven day supply and allow law enforcement agencies, hospitals, nursing homes, and licensed pharmacies to act as safe drug drop-off locations. Additionally, the laws will focus on properly training medical students in prescribing processes, disposal of unwanted medications, and identifying risk for addiction.

Drug Rehab Newark is a leader in the field of addiction recovery. As a provider of addiction treatment in Newark, they understand the need for legislative measures to combat this deadly epidemic. Drug Rehab Newark commends governor Wolf for taking steps to aid and protect the residents of Pennsylvania.

A representative of Drug Rehab Newark comments,
"The current atmosphere of the country surrounding substance abuse and addiction is one that cannot be ignored. We lose more people annually due to overdoses than to car accidents; a majority of those deaths are caused by prescription opioids. Through these legislative measures to combat prescription opioid abuse, governor Wolf is taking steps to protect the residents of Pennsylvania. Legislators across the country have done so as well, but we still need a greater commitment from all members of our government to take the epidemic seriously. We need proper disposal methods available everywhere as well as public education and access to recovery services. We encourage governor Wolf and others to continue the fight for nationwide healing."
