The DEA Compares Colorado Grow Houses to 90's Meth Houses, Drug and Alcohol Rehab Denver Comments

(USGovernment-News.Com, August 12, 2016 ) Denver, CO -- Since Colorado's legalisation of the recreational drug marijuana, more people have shown an interest in the production of the drug. Now, sellers are growing the plant from their homes instead of a government owned facilities. The Drug Enforcement Administration, DEA, has started to compare the marijuana grow houses to the 1990's methamphetamine houses.

According to a report, there are a great number of homes in neighbourhoods that have started growing ganja in homes and making a business out of it and some of them happen to be run by drug dealers. The commander of the North Metro Drug Squadron, Todd Reeves, has had a lot of experiences with these cases. "These grow houses are extremely dangerous. The reality is, as a task force, we're dealing with this if not weekly, bi weekly. And it's just a matter of time before we start to see more deaths and things related to these type of activities," Reeves said. According to the commander, some of the houses have been contaminated with mold and precarious chemicals that are used to fertilise the greenery. There have also been reports of the marijuana extract oil causing explosions that could have had a fatal outcome.

A representative from Drug and Alcohol Rehab Denver says: " Although the marijuana legalisation has created benefits for Colorado citizens who need the drug for medicinal purposes, other people like drug dealers have taken the new law to a new level. Taking grow houses in neighbourhoods where it is, firstly, dangerous, and secondly, filled with children is extremely inconsiderate. Not only is it inconsiderate for the community but also for themselves because if the grow house catches fire, thousands of dollars in damages will arise."
