Senate Passes Bill for Combatting Substance Abuse, Drug and Alcohol Rehab New Hampshire Responds

(USGovernment-News.Com, March 19, 2016 ) Concord, NH -- According to the New York Times, a new, broad bill has been passed in the senate which may expand efforts to end the widespread addiction crisis across the United States. The legislation is the largest to deal directly with addiction recovery since the law requiring insurance companies to cover the cost of rehabilitation in 2008. Passing with a vote of 94 to 1 in which Republican representative Ben Sasse was the only person to oppose the law. A measure which would provide $500 million in extra funds for addiction recovery efforts was rejected, an act which angered some Democratic representatives who argue the funding is necessary to see improvements made to treatment. The bill is expected to be presented to the House in the spring.

With people dying of overdose in the streets of cities and towns all over the U.S., we need our government to come together to find a solution. We urge the members of the House to think long and carefully about this matter before the voting takes place. Hundreds of thousands of lives are at stake."
