One-Third of Fatal Thanksgiving Crashes Caused by Alcohol or Drugs- Cincinnati Drug Rehab Comments

(USGovernment-News.Com, December 24, 2015 ) Cincinnati, Ohio -- Cincinnati.com reports that during the days surrounding Thanksgiving of 2014, 23 people were killed in driving accidents. One-third of those fatal accidents involved someone under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Vincent Shirey attributes the increase in impaired driving accidents and deaths to the reunions and festivities surrounding what many consider the beginning of the holiday season.

Nearly 38 percent of the automotive crashes in Ohio in 2014 involved impaired drivers. These accidents are entirely preventable. Beyond the hazards and potentially deadly consequences of drunk or drugged driving, Cincinnati Drug Rehab witnesses first hand how substance abuse destroys lives, families, and entire communities. The facility, which offers drug and alcohol rehab in Cincinnati, works tirelessly to rectify the damage caused by addiction and dependency.

A representative of Cincinnati Drug Rehab comments,

"Lives lost do to preventable causes are always tragic; we as a community need to take greater measures to protect ourselves and each other. Increased police presence and sobriety checkpoints help to keep the roads safe, but they simply aren't enough. Driving services, pre-arranged plans, or even abstaining from the consumption of alcohol when you are going to operate a vehicle can save a life. Nothing is worth risking your life behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, especially not during what is meant to be a joyous time of year."
