According to NBC Los Angeles a band of mothers who have lost their children to preventable heroin overdoses are coming together to become certified in the administration of naloxone, an overdose reversal medication which saves victims of overdose from dying of suffocation and sustaining permanent brain damage. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced the number of heroin related deaths have increased fourfold in "nearly a decade" according to NBC Los Angeles.
