Community Action Training - "Training From The Heart"
(USGovernment-News.Com, May 27, 2015 ) London, UK -- With Government austerity measures having an increased impact on the Health & Social Care Sector, Community Action Training Ltd is discovering a new approach to training. As Company Director Luvain Maximen puts it, "Care workers are very dedicated people who find the themselves in low-paid jobs with a lot of responsibility. It is essential that they receive training to be able to really support people with complex needs." Care homes in the UK often suffer from high staff turnover, meaning that Care Managers are forced to provide training to staff who then move on to work for other providers, leaving the institution to train new staff from the beginning, over and over again at a significant cost. Luvain goes on to say : "We want to ensure training is person-centred and tailored to the goals, aspirations and learning styles of individual care workers. When staff are taught the theory without the care, compassion and practical application, training can easily become a 'tick box exercise' and they go away from the training without the skills they need. We aim to teach staff care, empathy and compassion first, and relate this to the theory afterwards. "
Established in 2014, Community Action Training Ltd has already obtained CPD certification for their Dementia and Person-Centred Thinking and Planning courses.
When asked if they had benefited from the training course, two trainee nurses who recently attended CAT's Dementia Awareness programme said, "We didn't learn this in our old nursing course. There We were just given a book that provided us with the theory about dementia, but it is great that CAT are helping us understand how to actually support individuals who have dementia".
