Pardo Locksmith Remarks on Disputed Road Tax Hike Proposal in Westland

(USGovernment-News.Com, May 19, 2015 ) Westland, MI - "Nobody wants to pay higher taxes," says Pardo Locksmith, on revealing their stand on the present argument in Westland's road repair implementation. "However, we are all aware that these roads need to be fixed."

The locksmith service in Westland points out that the state roads proposal was not finding support from the local council.

Hometime Life dished out a report. In a gathering of councils and sponsors at Westland City Hall, Michigan Municipal League legislative analyst John LaMacchia presented Proposal 1 which would increase the region's sales and raise tax to 7% from the current 6% in order to raise more than a billion in revenue.

There will be a tide of changes in the local industry once this plan takes place. In the story found on http://www.hometownlife.com/story/news/local/westland/2015/04/19/people-oppose-roads-proposal-forum-westland/25955247, among the most affected are taxes on wholesale fuel purchase and vehicle registrations.

K-12 and community colleges are bound to receive a limiting State School Aid funding. This will no longer be implemented for colleges and universities.

"This will impose a great change in the entire community," says Pardo Locksmith.

However, LaMacchia notes that the change will be helpful to the lower income families. "People who get the Earned Income Tax Credit aren’t going out buying boats. That money goes right back out into the economy."

One of the attendees, who calls himself an "average Joe," warns the crowd not to "buy it."

"I don’t get raises. The (sales) tax was at 4 percent. It jumped to 6 percent and we were told there would be no new taxes," he argues. "That’s the reason we’re in the shape we’re in. In the last 10 years, a lot of people lost their jobs, there were high gas prices."

Another man commented about the current state regulations. "They just rebuilt 275 and last week they were out there filling potholes. Now, you’re asking us to raise taxes.”

Westland Mayor William Wild commented on this argument as a "touchy subject."

"The polling numbers are off the chart that we need to fix the roads," he denotes. "It goes wild when you look at how to pay for it. The state has decided this is what we will vote on."

The community will render their votes on May 5 whether or not to proceed with this plan.

“We all know what we need,” says Pardo Locksmith. “But getting there is a risky, difficult choice. We hope that the council finds a better plan to make both ends meet: no higher taxes, just better roads.”
