Most Georgian Pedestrian Deaths In Almost 20 Years

(USGovernment-News.Com, January 28, 2015 ) Atlanta, GA -- It has recently been reported that Georgia had a shocking spike in pedestrian accidents in 2014. With 182 pedestrians killed, it is the highest number that the state has seen in almost 20 years (since 1997).

On average, pedestrians happen to account for about 15% of the total traffic deaths throughout the entire nation. Senior citizens in particular are at risk, as they account for 23% of pedestrian deaths – even though they only make up for 13% of the whole U.S. population.

P.E.D.S. is a group that is dedicated to improving conditions for pedestrians in the Atlanta area. One of their advocates, Ian Sansom, states that suburban areas tend to be more dangerous for those on foot.

Atlanta car accident lawyer John Foy has been hearing about these types of accidents for over 25 years. Today, he provides these safety tips:

o Carry a flashlight at night.

o Use bright/reflective clothing.

o Use designated sidewalks and crosswalks.

o Wait for the signal (when possible).

o Cross at corners.

o Turn headphones down before crossing.

Surviving victims of these wrecks may contact an Atlanta personal injury lawyer from the law office of John Foy & Associates at 404-879-7518, or chat for free at http://www.johnfoy.com/.
