See what the ice ball looks like when it comes out of the freezer.

(USGovernment-News.Com, February 14, 2014 ) Uxbridge, MA -- A successful seller on Amazon recently revealed a disturbing trend that all retailers on the site should be aware of. According to Ice Sphere Tech, the maker of a popular brand of ice ball molds, their product was hijacked by another seller who used the same image and same project description to copy their product and damage their sales efforts. According to a spokesperson for Ice Sphere Tech, "We were shocked to learn that another firm was using our information and our images to sell a product that looked and sounded like ours. We want to make all Amazon retailers aware of this growing practice."

Often, the hijackers will observe trends on Amazon and find a product or products that are selling very well or moving up in the Amazon sales rankings. They then swoop in and copy the product using the information that took the original company months of hard work to put together. Usually, by the time the original seller discovers what is going on, their sales have been severely damaged and in some cases so has the reputation of their business as consumers come to think the real seller and the hijacker are one and the same.

This is what happened to Ice Sphere Tech when a hijacker took their patented images and began selling a competing brand of ice ball molds. Bringing these hijackers to the attention of Amazon and having them removed from the site is often a long and difficult process, but an Ice Sphere Tech representative encouraged anyone whose product has been hijacked to fight back. "If a product has been hijacked and your business is suffering, take all necessary steps to bring the hijacker to the attention of the right people and do it as soon as possible!"

According to experts there are a few steps sellers can take to be on alert for hijackers. First, they can be very active in their product sites. Searching for similar products using Amazon's powerful database is a good way to see if the site is picking up products that sound very similar. Placing phrases and keywords unique to a particular product is also an effective way to find products that have been hijacked of the hijacker uses the exact same product description, which is often the case. Finally, experts highly recommend that all appropriate action is taken once a hijacker is discovered. This means never confronting the hijacker directly but taking the issue directly to Amazon or any other online retail site so that they can follow their rules and regulations to deal effectively with the hijacker.
