(USGovernment-News.Com, December 31, 2013 ) TULSA, OKLA. – Bullying and Cyber-Bullying has raised great concern across our nation in recent times, as suicides and psychological problems have increased.
Each year, new laws are created to prevent such activities from occurring, no matter how or where they may take place. These laws have aided in decreasing the amount of bullying which occurs by increasing its awareness, and enforcing more strict repercussions.
It should be noted that there are no laws directly related to bullying, rather incidents typically overlap with discrimination cases relating to race, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, skin color, or religion.
Even with these laws, a great degree of bullying still occurs across our nation’s schools, communities, and homes. Bullying may present itself in many different forms including; physical bullying, verbal bullying, indirect bullying, social alienation, intimidation, and cyber-bullying.
According to President Barack Obama, in an effort to address bullying, “Bullying can have destructive consequences for our young people. And it’s not something we have to accept. As parents and students; teachers and communities, we can take steps that will help prevent bullying and create a climate in our schools in which all of our children can feel safe.”
Parents and teachers should take it upon themselves to better educate younger generations about the various outcomes of bullying, as it may save a life. There are several bullying statistics which can be used to help demonstrate the great number of bullying which occurs, and the impact it may take on an individual.
