(USGovernment-News.Com, December 20, 2013 ) Gadsden, GA -- On October 31, business news blog DigitalOlympus.com comments on recent news story by Soham Chatterjee published on October 28 on reuters.com concerning AMC Networks Inc. disclosure that it intends to takeover Chellomedia, the international content arm of John Malone's Liberty Global Plc., in a deal valued at about $1.04 billion, to give the firm stronger dominance over the worldwide distribution of its programs.
According to the reuters.com news article, the biggest cable operator in Europe, Liberty Global declared that the deal would assist it simplify its business and enable it to direct its attention on its major market, the United States. AMC Networks, which housed hit shows like "Mad Men", "Breaking Bad" and "The Walking Dead", has been investing money to develop content and expand programming as it faces HBO, Time Warner Inc.'s foremost cable TV network.
In a statement following the report, DigitalOlympus.com principal researcher Josh Cole suggested that “In addition to acquiring Chellomedia, AMC networks Inc. can seek for ways of expanding its business by hiring experts that offers significant business intelligence services.”
Furthermore, the reuters.com news story reported that Albert Fried & Co analyst Rich Tullo was cited informing Reuters that "It seems like a good deal for AMC. They are basically going from 96 million affiliate subscribers to 500 million affiliate subscribers globally."
Made up of 68 channels Chellomedia's network is delivered to 390 million households in 138 nations. Most of its programming consists of movies, entertainment and content purchased from partners.
“Taking over Chellomedia will turn out to be a huge boost for AMC as it offers the firm the opportunity to expand its business worldwide,” says DigitalOlymus.com spokesperson. “Other firms willing to make an acquisition to expand their business can seek advice from firms that specialize in due diligence to ensure they take the right step.”
According to AMC Networks said the businesses being acquired consist of Chello Central Europe, Chello Latin America and Chello Zone.
