(USGovernment-News.Com, November 23, 2013 ) SACRAMENTO, CA—Motor vehicle manufacturer Kia Motors Corp. has voluntarily recalled over 96,000 Sedona minivans due to a malfunction in a component of the suspension. Affected vehicles are model years 2006 through 2012; they were sold or registered in 20 U.S. states as well as Washington, D.C. and Canada.
Consumer complaints described loss of control of their vehicle and the issue was determined to be a corroded suspension part. The malfunction affected consumers in regions where salt is used on the roads in winter. The recall covers vans in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Ohio, and West Virginia.
Kia will repair or replace the parts at no cost beginning next month. At the time of the recall Kia was unaware of any injuries or fatalities the suspension issue may have caused.
