(USGovernment-News.Com, October 31, 2013 ) WINDSOR, ON - Windsor lawyer Greg Monforton, a certified specialist in personal injury law, has been asked by the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (“OTLA”) to co-chair a roundtable discussion of Windsor based OTLA lawyers on the topic of developing and implementing standards of ethical conduct governing OTLA members. Monforton, a past president of OTLA, is chairing this discussion with another past president of OTLA, Paul Harte, a high profile medical malpractice lawyer from Toronto.
The roundtable is being held in Windsor on November 6, 2013, at the Holiday Inn, 1855 Huron Church Road.
Similar roundtable discussions are being held across the province, seeking input from OTLA members on implementing standards of ethical conduct to serve as a guideline for member lawyers when dealing with clients, opposing counsel, the Courts and the public in general. It is expected that these standards will exceed the minimum requirements currently imposed by the Law Society of Upper Canada.
OTLA is comprised of 1,400 members with a mandate to: “fearlessly champion, through the pursuit of the highest standards of advocacy, the cause of those who have suffered injury or injustice”.

This initiative is a considered response to concerns expressed by OTLA members about civility in our profession.
