Woman Accused of Fatal Texting While Driving Crash Has Shocking Driving Record Reports Levinson Axelrod

(USGovernment-News.Com, October 25, 2013 ) Essex County, NJ – Jennifer Sahoye who has been accused of vehicular homicide following a fatal accident from October 10th has a shocking driving record. According to state motor vehicle records, Sahoye had 35 moving violations and 65 license suspensions since 1996. She received her first speeding ticket just a few months after receiving her license in 1995.

In the past 19 years Sahoye has been cited for speeding nine times and in some cases was found to be going 30 miles per hour over the speed limit. She was also cited for careless driving, failing to obey a traffic signal, and received license suspensions for failing to pay fines and comply with other court-ordered requirements.

Sahoye has been accused of vehicular homicide after the death of Carlos Carvalho. Sahoye’s vehicle veered into the southbound lanes of Routes 1 and 9 near Route 78 and then sideswiped Carvalho’s pick-up truck. Carvalho was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Witnesses said that Sahoye’s head appeared lowered as if she was distracted and further investigations confirmed that she had been texting at the time of the accident. Sahoye was released on a $50,000 bound and a court hearing is scheduled for Monday, October 28th.

In New Jersey there is a ban on texting and driving as well as a hand-held ban which means drivers can only use hands-free devices to talk on the phone. According to the US Government more than 3,300 people in 2011 were killed in a car accident involving a distracted driver. Additionally more than 387,000 people were injured in a distracted driving accident.

If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident caused by a distracted driver, the victim may be entitled to compensation for property damage, medical expenses, lost wages, and more.
