(USGovernment-News.Com, October 24, 2013 ) Houston, TX – A Harris County family suffered a close call on Monday evening when a truck crashed into their kitchen just missing Blanca Vasquez’s mother.
The accident happened near Brookhead Trail and Bammel North Houston just before 9:00p.m as the mother and daughter were relaxing at home. According to reports Vasquez’s elderly mother, Irma, had just exited the kitchen when the large truck crashed through the home. When the dust cleared, Irma realized her daughter, who is disabled, was missing. Blanca had run into the street because she was so frightened when the accident happened.
It is believed that the driver was speeding, ran a stop sign and then hit another vehicle which caused his truck to veer into the Vasquez home. The truck crashed through a wooden fence, went through another neighbor’s backyard and crashed through the home’s brick wall.
Luckily no one was hurt however the crash is still under investigation and no charges against the driver have been made just yet. While repairs are made on the home, Irma and Blanca Vasquez are staying at a relative’s home.
In Texas there were more than 173,000 truck/pick-up truck accidents reported in 2012; these totals do not include accidents involving semi-trucks. Of these accidents more than 14 percent resulted in serious injuries and thousands more were fatal.
