(USGovernment-News.Com, October 19, 2013 ) GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The annual state fair opened Friday, October 18 in Raleigh, and Riddle & Brantley want to remind fair goers to enjoy the season while staying safe.
The North Carolina State Fair began in 1850 with 4,000 visitors and has grown to see daily attendance in the tens of thousands. Thursday afternoon’s unofficial opening gathered a crowd of 42,763 ready for rides, games, food and contests. The 10-day event is open to family and friends, young and old.
In some cases, carnival rides can malfunction because of poor maintenance or improper use. When visiting the fair this year, be aware of the potential risks when choosing rides for yourself and for any children you are responsible for. Many times safety harnesses are old, faulty, or do not fit a child’s body, which is why it is easy for children to sustain injury from certain rides.
