Woman Arrested After Trying to Run Other Motorist off the Road Reports Standeffer and Harbin

(USGovernment-News.Com, October 15, 2013 ) Spartanburg, S.C – Sunday evening a Spartanburg woman was arrested after trying to run another driver off the road, as well as spitting on her vehicle and then resisting arrest.

Authorities in Spartanburg County received a complaint from a deputy in another county about the driver’s reckless behavior. According to reports the deputy was behind a woman driving her vehicle slowly in the fast lane, when the deputy attempted to pass the woman she began screaming profanities at her.

Both the vehicles were traveling at fast speeds and when the deputy tried to slam on her brakes to get the other vehicle’s license plate number the other woman stopped as well. At this point a male passenger stepped out of the car and attempted to get into the victim’s car. When he was unable to do so he spit on her vehicle.

The woman in the vehicle tried to get out of the car but the male passenger went back into the vehicle and drove away erratically. The victim said she feared for her life during the encounter.

When deputies went to the home of the vehicle’s owner, 36-year-old Sudy Ath, they say she got angry and refused to discuss the incident. When the officer told the woman to put her hands behind her back she kicked and screamed at him. Another man who was at the location tried to get in the middle of the scuffle but the officer told him to back away.

Ath was arrested and charged for public disorderly conduct, reckless driving, resisting arrest, assault and battery, improper tag and improper parking.

According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety more than 600 persons were injured in auto accidents caused by aggressive driving. If you see someone driving erratically contact the authorities to report the problem right away.

If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident caused by a reckless driver, the victim may be entitled to compensation for property damage, medical expenses, lost wages, and more.
