(USGovernment-News.Com, October 09, 2013 ) CHARLESTON, IL — For the second time this year, Bill Tapella of The Tapella & Eberspacher Law Firm made a guest appearance on WCIA 3’s Ci Living, the Central Illinois series highlighting interesting people and stories from within the community. Their segment, “Ask a Lawyer” aired Thursday, October 3, and featured Tapella answering legal questions from viewers.
Tapella, whose firm has extensive experience litigating personal injury cases in Illinois, tackled several topics, one of which addressed drafting a will for an individual who has a child with special needs.
“Many times these children are involved in government programs like Medicaid and Medicare that assist with medical bills,” said Tapella. “If those children should come into assets by way of a life insurance policy or a lawsuit… that money could very well disqualify them from the benefits they need,” he said.
Tapella stressed that by drafting a will parents will be able to make informed decisions about the future of their child’s care even after they have passed.
Other topics from the segment included when to sign a power of attorney document with a parent in declining health, and how to handle a case of wrongful termination.
“You have a right under Illinois law to access… your personnel file that an employer would rely upon to make decisions about your employment,” Tapella said. “Know what’s in your file, and know what that employer is using to make their decisions about your employment.”
Tapella & Eberspacher’s superior reputation for quality, personal service and results is the foundation for their high-quality work. Based in Illinois and handling cases throughout Illinois and Missouri, their litigators focus on personal injury, including medical malpractice, auto accidents, trucking accidents, nursing home negligence, and dangerous products.
