(USGovernment-News.Com, October 05, 2013 ) Windsor, Ont. – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has reported that several people have become ill following the consumption of Compliments Super 8 Beef Burgers because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
Compliments has recalled there burgers which were distributed in Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, and Labrador in Sobeys banner stores. As food safety investigation continues, there may be further recalls on additional products.
The burgers produced by Belmont Meats of Toronto may also be found in FreshCo, Foodland, and Price Chopper stories throughout Canada. These burgers are sold in frozen packages of six and have the UPC code of (o 55742 37055 3).
E. coli contaminated food may not appear or smell spoiled and is known to cause serious and life-threatening illnesses. While healthy adults will usually recover within a week, young children and older adults may develop a life-threatening form of kidney failure from the bacteria.
Health Canada has reported that over four-million Canadians get food poisoning each year.
