(USGovernment-News.Com, October 03, 2013 ) Knoxville, TN – On Tuesday morning Rocky Adams passed away at the University of Tennessee Medical Center just two weeks after he was involved in a motorcycle accident.
On September 16th Adams was riding his 2003 Honda VT6 eastbound on Stowers Drive and according to reports he was going well over the speed limit posted. A 2010 Nissan Sentra was entering Stowers Drive westbound out of a private driveway. When Adams saw the vehicle backing out he slammed on his brakes. Unfortunately the motorcycle’s brakes locked up, the vehicle skidded, and Adams was thrown from his bike.
Adams slid on the road and hit a mailbox. Although he was wearing a helmet he suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to UT Medical Center where he passed away.
In Tennessee there were more than 3,300 motorcycle collisions reported throughout the state in 2012, more than 130 of them were fatal accidents. The number of fatal motorcycle accidents in between 2011 and 2012 actually grew by 12 percent.
