(USGovernment-News.Com, October 01, 2013 ) LINCOLN, NE – The city of Lincoln, Nebraska is planning on creating roundabouts at the intersections of 14th, Old Chesney and Warlick due to the great number of fender benders and other types of crashes at these intersections.
Studies at the roundabout at 14th and Superior are working on making some changes to the design, yet there has already been a great improvement in safety as people use slower speeds and tend to crash at less drastic angles in roundabouts as opposed to the more traditional intersections.
Further reports indicate that roundabouts have helped to lessen severe types of crashes and have also helped to greatly reduce the number of fatalities that occur at intersections. They do so my lessening the sight distance so drivers become less impulsive as many drivers are at regular intersections.
