(USGovernment-News.Com, September 28, 2013 ) Huntington, WV – An accident in Huntington, West Virgina involving one vehicle and an ambulance has left one person injured. A Cabell County ambulance was on its way to answer a call when it collided with another vehicle near 3rd Avenue and 25th Street. The accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon and at least one person was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
There were several witnesses at the scene and some said that the emergency medical technicians emerged from the overturned ambulance and immediately went to the aid of the other driver involved in the accident.
It is believed that the driver of the smaller vehicle failed to hear the ambulance sirens and see the flashing lights.
Drivers should always be mindful of emergency vehicles and know what to do when approaching a stationary authorized emergency vehicle and one that is approaching traffic. In West Virginia there were more than 70 ambulance accidents reported in 2003 and thousands more throughout the United States.
