(USGovernment-News.Com, September 27, 2013 ) Knoxville, TN – Homeowners in Oak Ridge are fed-up with the property damage they continue amounting in their neighborhood. The family most recently had their two vehicles and home damaged after a driver ran into the side wall of their two-year-old’s bedroom.
The Mirodipini family says this is just one of many incidents as their house and vehicles have been vandalized before. The family and neighbors claim that drivers are consistently speeding through the area where the speed limit is 25 miles per hour and that intoxicated drivers often take that road to avoid law enforcement on the nearby highway.
It is estimated that the family’s home repairs will cost about $3,000. Fortunately their daughter was not in her room at the time of the accident on Saturday. The couple does believe that they located the vehicle involved in the incident though and police are investigating the matter.
Under Tennessee traffic laws when you are involved in an accident you must stop at the scene, if you fail to do so you could face criminal charges. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, of all the accidents across the United States about 11 percent are hit-and-run collisions.
