(USGovernment-News.Com, September 27, 2013 ) Spartanburg, S.C – A Wednesday evening traffic accident on Interstate 85 near Spartanburg has left one person dead and two others injured. The multi-vehicle accident involved a Ford Taurus, Cadillac and tractor-trailer.
An accident reconstruction team was on the scene to investigate what caused the accident. Initial reports claim that one of the motorists was driving the wrong way on the interstate however the true cause has yet to be announced.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol the driver and passenger of the Ford Taurus were trapped inside the vehicle which was crushed; the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Three people were inside the Cadillac at the time of the accident, two persons were taken to the hospital and the other was not injured during the collision.
Data from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety indicates that in 2009 a fatal collision occurred every 10 hours throughout the state. Furthermore there were more than 10,000 car accidents on South Carolina interstates that same year.
