(USGovernment-News.Com, September 24, 2013 ) Houston, TX – If your morning commute leads you through the Galleria area, for the next two week you’ll need to find an alternate route. Construction on the San Felipe Street Bridge will begin on Monday morning and the area will be shut down for the next two weeks as construction crews tear down the area and rebuild it.
According to reports the closed off area begins at the railroad tracks just east of Mid Lane inside 610 West Loop. Alternative routes include 610 West Loop, Westheimer, Memorial Drive, Richmond Avenue or Kirby.
The project is part of the district's $13.2 million Channel Enclosure Project which will rebuild and enclose the drainage in the Highland Village area. According to the Harris County Flood District, crews will be working extended hours to expedite the progress.
Motorists in the area should be aware of closures and watch for construction workers and vehicles coming in and out of the area. According to the Texas Department of Transportation there were more than 14,000 work-zone crashes reported in 2011 with more than 26 percent leading to personal injuries.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a construction zone accident caused by a careless driver, the victim may be entitled to compensation for property damage, medical expenses, lost wages, and more. An experienced Houston auto accident attorney can help you determine if you may be eligible to make a claim.
