(USGovernment-News.Com, September 14, 2013 ) BATON ROUGE, LA — At approximately 7:30 a.m. Friday, September 13 a Shreveport driver traveling near the intersection of Mansfield Road and Jewella Avenue slammed into an oncoming bus, for reasons that are yet unknown.
The Shreveport Police Department reported the driver was heading north into oncoming traffic when a bus on its way to Summerfield Elementary was struck head-on. The bus driver and five children were taken to the hospital for minor injuries— the driver complaining of back pains— but the driver of the car was transported and is said to be in critical condition.
No information has been released on the driver of the vehicle and police are currently investigating why they were driving the wrong way.
Negligent driving is a serious offense that can seriously injure, maim and kill others. In this case, the driver of the car suffered the most serious injuries, though several children on the bus were hurt in the crash.
