Tennessee Highway Patrol Will Conduct “No Refusal” DUI Checks Over the Weekend Reports Greg Coleman Law

(USGovernment-News.Com, August 31, 2013 ) Knoxville, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol has announced that beginning at 6p.m. Friday they will be conducting “no refusal” DUI checkpoints. The checkpoints will continue through Monday at midnight.

Tennessee’s “no refusal” law allows law enforcement to seek search warrants for blood samples from drivers they believe are impaired. Simply put, drivers cannot refuse a DUI check as they will be served with a warrant to supply a blood sample.

The aim of the program is to deter impaired drivers from getting behind the wheel over the holiday weekend. Last year there were two fatal alcohol-related car collisions and a total of 11 fatal collisions throughout the state over Labor Day weekend.

As of August 2013 there have been more than 3,000 alcohol-related car accidents, 212 of which occurred in Knox County.

If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident caused by an impaired driver, the victim may be entitled to compensation for property damage, medical expenses, lost wages, and more.

Our experienced Knoxville auto accident attorneys can help you determine if you may be eligible to make a claim, and if so, how to proceed.
