Columbus Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Road-Rage Murder Reports OÂ’Connor, Acciani, & Levy

(USGovernment-News.Com, August 01, 2013 ) Columbus, OH – Marvin D. Clinton, 47, has been sentenced to life in prison after one jury found him guilty and another rejected his insanity defense.

In May 2013 Clinton was convicted of murder for a road-rage incident from December of 2010. On December 18th, 2010 Clinton’s pick-up truck was rear-ended by Kesley R. Ellis’ SUV. Clinton subsequently shot Ellis.

The first jury found that Clinton had used a gun in the crime and then tampered with the evidence by disposing of the gun. The judge also convicted him of possessing a gun although he is a felon. The second jury rejected Clinton’s claim that he didn’t understand the wrongfulness of his actions and that he simply blanked out during the incident.

Common Pleas Judge Michael J. Holbrook sentenced Clinton to a mandatory 15 years to life and an additional 3 years for the possession of the gun.

According to the Ohio Department of Public Safety, after a car collision more than 1,600 drivers were emotional including some who reported being angry. Furthermore, according to AAA more than 1,500 people each year are killed due to senseless traffic disputes.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a road rage accident, the victim may be entitled to compensation for property damage, medical bills, lost wages, and more. Speaking with an experienced Columbus auto accident attorney can help you determine what your legal rights are.
