Windsor Woman Seeking Dog That Bit Her and the Dog's Owner Reports Greg Monforton & Partners

(USGovernment-News.Com, July 25, 2013 ) Windsor, ON – 72-year-old Patricia Mitchell was bitten on her right hand on the morning of July 20th in the Katella Avenue and Firgrove Drive area. Mitchell says she was walking her dog when she came across a golden retriever named Shiloh who was being walked by a friendly man in the neighborhood.

After some conversation Mitchell went to pet Shiloh goodbye when the dog bit her hand. She suffered several puncture wounds so she went to a nearby home to clean and dress the wound. Upon her return the man and dog were gone.

Mitchell had to seek medical attention and received stitches, a tetanus shot, and antibiotics. She is seeking the dog and owner in order to obtain the dog’s medical records. If she does not find the information by July 30th she will have to receive a series of anti-rabies shots.

If you have any information on Shiloh and her owner please call Mitchell’s daughter Dawna at 519-979-7075, or email dmitchell91@cogeco.ca.

According to a study conducted by the Canadian Hospital Injury Reporting and Prevention Programs (CHIRRP) between 1999 and 2008 more than 17,000 dog-related injuries were reported. Of these incidents approximately 78.4 percent were dog bites. Furthermore, more than 100 cases reported amongst Canadians between the ages of 65 and 74.

If you or a loved one has been seriously injured by a dog attack, the victim may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and more. Speaking with an experienced Windsor dog bite attorney can help you determine if you may be eligible to make a claim.
