Possible Serial Sexual Assaulter in Boston Neighborhood

(USGovernment-News.Com, July 22, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- With only a couple days past since an assault upon a local woman was rendered, the Beacon Hill area is, once again on alert for offenders. The latest assault alert is the fourth in the last month. Brooke Feldman of the Beacon Hill area said the attacks are surely a lingering though in the back of her mind at all times.

“It makes me very nervous,” she said. “But I’m cognizant that I’m a young woman living in a city, so I do try to be extra careful.”

The recent attack happened on Monday, as a woman was assaulted on Brimmer Street. The suspect was said to have fled on Chestnut Street toward Charles Street.

Since end of May saw the upscale area rattled by three separate sexual assaults within short distances from its center. “It is unsettling to people, particularly this situation that occurred on Monday, because it happened during fairly daylight hours, as opposed to in the dark,” said MaryLee Halpin, executive director of the Beacon Hill Civic Association. “That has people thinking about it perhaps a little differently than they had before.”

Local resident Michelle Hernandez stated that daylight attacks are a strong reminder of the precautions that must be taken when walking anywhere alone as a woman. “You think it’s the safest in the daytime,” she said, “but it’s not anymore.”

The first of the assaults happened at the close of May at midday, according to police. The victim was simply standing outside her apartment when a man approached her and groped her. The assailant then fled after the woman screamed.

Another woman was assaulted one night later as a man grabbed her and knocked her to the ground, according to police. He then sexually assaulted her before running away.

Minutes later, another woman was approached by a man who groped her from behind, then fleeing from to down Phillips Street.

Police believe the assailant is the same man. Investigators are looking for possible connections between all assaults, but cannot jump to conclusions. “I always am aware of who else I share the area with, maybe a little more aware now though,” said 21-year-old Dori Moreno. “I’m probably more likely to take a cab now if I am coming home from work alone late at night.”
