Matt CuttÂ’s Alerts Releases Infograph on Sex Offenders in the United States

(USGovernment-News.Com, July 18, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- According to the infograph, there are currently 750,000 registered sex offenders in the United States. 265,000 remain under the supervision of corrections agencies, but 70 percent of sex offenders will go on to commit a non-sexual crime after they are released from jail.

However, the most alarming fact about sex offenders in the United States is that 2.7 to 5.3 percent will go on to commit another sexually based offense after they are released from jail or prison.

93 percent of boys and 80 percent of girls who have been sexually molested were victimized by someone they knew, possibly even a family member. Unfortunately, 30 percent of children raped and molested will become sexual offenders later in life as a result of their abuse.

The sex offender infographic, titled “Sex Offenders in the United States” asys that 43 percent of sexual assaults occur between 6 p.m. in the evening and midnight, and 60 percent of second offenses occur while the offender is still living in a supervised community. In fact, there is a 20 percent average re-conviction rate for child molesters and 19 percent reconviction rate for rapists in general.

Taxpayers pay on average $22,000 for incercerating one sex offender for a year, but the average number os years a sex offender serves for a minimum eight year sentence is three and a half years.

The US state with the highest rate of registered sex offenders per 100,000 people is Delaware at 517, followed by Oregon, Vermont, Michigan, Arkansas Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Florida.

The US state with the lowest rate of registered sex offenders is Pennsylvania, followed by Maryland, New Mexico, Rhode Island, North Carolina, Connecticut, Washington D.C., and New Jersey.
