(USGovernment-News.Com, July 11, 2013 ) WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Gordon & Doner warns Florida residents to practice safety this summer while riding All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) and other off-road vehicles, following the release of some disturbing statistics from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The agency released an infographic this week detailing statistics on ATV-related deaths and tips for ATV safety.
According to the CPSC data, Florida is the sixth leading state in ATV accident fatalities, with over 400 deaths occurring over a 26-year period. The data also reflects that the summer months are the peak time for fatalities, with July & August seeing the most incidents between 2005 and 2007. The majority of fatalities in those years occurred while the driver was riding on a paved surface, and the most common injuries occur in the arms or hands, head or neck, and torso.
Additionally, the CPSC infographic offers safety tips which warn riders to never use an ATV without a helmet, never carry a passenger unless the ATV is built for one, and to never ride on paved roads.
