(USGovernment-News.Com, June 27, 2013 ) Scottsdale, AZ – Three new road projects aimed at curbing speeding have been Okayed by the city. The “Camelback” project includes speed bumps and a raised median island three specific locations. Several projects had been considered however in April a consensus of residents decided which traffic measures would be the most effective.
Traffic-calming measures will be installed in the following areas:
• Granite Reef, from Osborn to Thomas Road
• 86th Street, from Earll Drive to Thomas Road
• Camelback Road, from 82nd Street to Granite Reef Road Granite Reef, from Osborn to Thomas Road
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, more than 103,000 car crashes were reported throughout the state in 2011. The most common cause of all reported accidents was speeding. Approximately 12% of all fatal accidents were caused by speeding and thousands more caused serious injuries.
