(USGovernment-News.Com, April 20, 2013 ) Palm Beach, FL – Nissan has announced that certain 2013 Pathfinder and Infiniti JX vehicles manufactured between December 3rd, 2012 and January 29th, 2013 are being recalled due to an inadequate manufacturing process.
The front brake torque member was not cast correctly during the manufacturing process which could result in structural weakness and eventually lead to premature cracking and failure. If the brake torque component fails, the brake caliper can shift and contact the inside of the road wheel resulting in reduced braking. If a driver’s brakes fail to properly halt the vehicle in motion, the risk of being involved in a car accident is much greater.
According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles more than 235,000 car collisions were reported throughout the state in 2011 and of these nearly 2% were caused by a driver who was unable to maintain control of their vehicle.
The recall is expected to begin in May 2013 and Nissan will be notifying owners affected. Nissan dealers will also be inspecting the manufacturing date of the torque member and replacing it, free of charge, if needed.
