Mains successfully defended a jury verdict obtained on behalf of a victim of sexual harassment. In the matter of Davis v. Husain, partner Kevin M. Costello obtained a jury verdict in August 2011 on behalf of the plaintiff, the victim of workplace sexual harassment. The defendant appealed the verdict, citing a number of alleged trial errors. Ms. Mains handled the appeal for plaintiff and, on March 14, 2013, obtained a decision from the appellate court denying the appeal in its entirety and upholding the verdict in favor of the plaintiff.
"We're very pleased and proud," says Deborah. "All of our discrimination and workplace sexual harassment cases are important, of course, but this trial win, having been protected in a very thoroughly argued appeal, is very meaningful to us. This was a case the defendant could have and should have settled, and instead, he insisted he was right, and both the jury, and now, the Appellate Court, have told him otherwise. Our client deserved protection and her day in Court, and she's gotten it." Kevin notes the excellent appellate work done by his partner: "Deborah met each argument advanced with solid, reasoned law, and won the day." The matter is still pending further dispositions.
