Cochran Firm Reports on Call-A-Bus

(USGovernment-News.Com, December 19, 2012 ) Dothan, AL -- Call-A-Bus offers free and low-cost door-door transportation in Prince George’s County, Maryland to residents who are unable to use existing bus or rail services and are senior citizens or people with disabilities. Non-senior citizens and people without disabilities can also ride Call-A-Bus and are charged $1 each way.



Seniors, (people aged 60 or over) may request Call-A-Bus to transport them for a variety of programs free of charge throughout the County such as:



Nutrition Program - Senior residents receive free transportation to specific locations for a nutritional lunch and companionship. Residents who are unable to attend may be eligible to have meals delivered to their residence instead. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. More information may be obtained or enrollment may be completed by calling 301-265-8487.



Medical Program - Senior and disabled residents are transported within Prince George’s County for medical purposes such as dialysis. Residents may call 301-499-8603 up to fourteen (14) days in advance to schedule routine medical appointments. For those seeking on-going or permanent transportation for medical purposes, such as dialysis treatment, written request may be submitted to: Prince George's County Office of Transportation, Attention: Transit Division, 9400 Peppercorn Place, Suite 320, Largo, MD 20774.



General Transportation - Limited transportation is provided for seniors to visit senior activity centers, make shopping trips and for other recreational purposes. Those that want to participate should call 301-499-8603.



Requests to ride Call-A-Bus can be made up to fourteen days in advance. The person requesting the ride must also confirm transportation the day prior or the ride may be cancelled. Same day requests are not recommended and are subject to availability.

Prince George’s County want to insure that public transportation is available to all who need it. Call-A-Bus helps the Transportation Department meet that goal.
