(USGovernment-News.Com, October 30, 2012 ) WAKE FOREST, NC – Residents of Wake Forest, NC, and especially those living in close proximity to Stony Hill Road, are warned that the water in which they use to drink, bathe, and cook may be contaminated with trichloroethylene (TCE). TCE is an incredibly toxic, dangerous chemical that has been linked to a number of severe health risks. For more information, please visit: http://www.justicecounts.com/.
Generally used for heavy-duty cleaning and removal of grease, TCE is a common product used by the cleaning industry throughout the country. Unfortunately, however, TCE is an extremely toxic chemical which causes serious harm to those exposed to the dangerous substance. In 2005, North Carolina’s Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENC) was notified that the pollutant had leaked into the well near Stony Hill Road.
The organization mistakenly assumed that only one well had been contaminated by TCE, however, numerous wells located in this general vicinity have recently reported pollution. As of June 2012, 21 homes have reported TCE contamination in their family’s private well. If you or a loved one live in Wake Forest, you may be at risk for water contamination.
Residents living near Stony Hill Road are advised to have their wells tested for TCE contamination immediately. Enco Laboratories, Inc. in Cary, NC is recommended for testing purposes.
