The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) helps people with mental illnesses handle their problems and works to reduce the stigmas attached to the disease through advocacy and education.
Many well-known people have faced mental illnesses and overcame their disabilities to be a major force in society. NAMI likes to promote the story of Winston Churchill, Britain’s Prime Minister, who was influential in securing a win over Germany’s aggressive war machine.
